Liza Burnett Fefferman is an accomplished Chief Communications Officer distinguished for crafting strategies that drive measurable business outcomes, elevating corporate reputation, and developing award-winning Oscar® and Emmy® campaigns—while advancing social impact efforts that influence entire industries. Known for blending long-term vision with compelling storytelling, she builds brands, leads high-performing teams, shapes executive narratives, and connects with stakeholders worldwide. Her expertise in corporate communications, crisis response, media engagement, and thought leadership has resulted in a proven track record of fueling growth and leaving a lasting cultural imprint.
Fefferman was recently appointed to the newly created role of Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at Anonymous Content, the leading global premium content and management company reporting to President and CEO Darren Walker.
Prior to Anonymous Content, Fefferman reported to Paramount Global Co-CEO Chris McCarthy where she served as Executive Vice President and Head of Communications, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios. In this role, she oversaw corporate strategy, thought leadership, crisis management, media relations, awards and social impact while also guiding internal comms. During her tenure, Fefferman’s remit also included consumer insights, programming and 120+ title launches featuring some of today’s most culturally defining hits and franchises — such as the Yellowstone universe, South Park, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart — all of which helped propel Paramount+ to record-breaking growth. She played a central role across Social Impact, leading communications for initiatives ranging from civic engagement to mental health, amplifying groundbreaking programs that sparked meaningful change across the industry and beyond.
A member of McCarthy’s five-person senior leadership team, Fefferman managed a 30-person department across New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Under her guidance and expertise, the group earned 193 Emmy nominations and 50 wins, a testament to her innovative awards campaigns and audience engagement strategies. In addition, McCarthy tapped her to launch and oversee MTV Documentary Films, a specialty label she founded and ran for six years. The division quickly emerged as a force in nonfiction filmmaking, earning seven Oscar nominations, appearing on fifteen Oscar Shortlists, and receiving two Peabody® Awards, four Emmy Awards, and twelve Emmy nominations.
Throughout her career, Fefferman has held senior leadership roles at some of the industry’s most influential entertainment companies. At RADiUS–TWC, the boutique division of The Weinstein Company, she served as EVP, Publicity, building the label into a recognized brand that doubled its market share in two years, earned a spot on Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Companies” Issue, orchestrated pioneering campaigns for films such as Bachelorette, Snowpiercer, and It Follows and oversaw the awards strategy that delivered back-to-back Oscar wins for Citizenfour and 20 Feet from Stardom. Prior to RADiUS, she served as SVP, Publicity at Samuel Goldwyn Films, where she shaped acquisition strategies and corporate directives while managing award campaigns and filmmaker relations.
Beyond the studio system, Fefferman launched Burnett Consulting, advising clients across sports, publishing, and media, including the New York Jets, Condé Nast, and GreeneStreet Films. She also served as EVP, Publicity at The Weinstein Company, where she guided communications on numerous box-office successes, helped secure four Oscar nominations, and a Golden Globe® win while managing a 20-person department.
Her early career included senior roles at Dan Klores Communications, Planet Hollywood International, and ABC Television Network, experiences that honed her expertise in reputation building and high-stakes media relations. Widely respected across the industry, Fefferman has been recognized on PRWeek’s Power List, among its “Top 10 Rising Stars Under 30,” and named to Variety’s coveted New York Impact Issue.
