Kelly McGinnis
As chief communications officer of Levi Strauss & Co., Kelly McGinnis is responsible for managing the global corporate affairs function at the 170-year old apparel company. In this capacity, she oversees corporate media relations, executive, employee and stakeholder communications, government affairs, policy, advocacy and community affairs as well as the company’s employee hardship fund, the Red Tab Foundation. McGinnis reports to CEO Michelle Gass. During her tenure at LS&Co., McGinnis has been a leader on the company’s voter participation advocacy, helping to found Time to Vote, an initiative that encourages companies to ensure their employees have time off to cast their vote. She also helped spearhead LS&Co.’s advocacy for gun violence prevention and reproductive rights; both areas where LS&Co. is viewed as a pioneer.
Previously, McGinnis was the vice president of global communications at Dell. Prior to joining Dell, she served as general manager of Fleishman-Hillard’s San Francisco office after working with the firm in various capacities in St. Louis and San Antonio. Earlier in her career, McGinnis led corporate communications for drugstore.com. McGinnis is a two-time Silver Anvil award recipient. She has been recognized by PR Week on the US Power List (2019), received the Milestones in Mentoring Award from the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations, and has been included in Provoke Media’s Influence 100 since 2015. McGinnis is the vice chair of the Homeless Prenatal Program board. Has volunteered as a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and is an avid equestrian, who competes in showjumping. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
