Glenn Osaki
Glenn Osaki is a global communications expert with four decades of leadership in reputation and crisis management, public diplomacy, and international affairs.
During his seven years at the University of Southern California, Osaki has served as SVP and chief communications officer; senior advisor to the President for International Communications and Marketing, and now director, international affairs at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. In his current role, Osaki serves as director of the USC U.S.-China Institute (USCI); managing director of the USC Center on Public Diplomacy (CPD); and leads study trips and global fellowships in China, Japan, and Thailand, among others.
Prior to joining USC in 2019, Osaki served as Asia-Pacific President for MSL Group, the flagship strategic communications and public affairs consultancy of Paris-based Publicis Groupe. A 33-year company veteran, Osaki was based in Shanghai for 15 years, where he successfully architected a formidable development strategy that multiplied the 15-staff agency one-hundredfold to 1,500 employees in 41 owned offices through industry-leading organic growth and acquisition of 10 best-in-class agencies across the region. Under Osaki’s leadership, MSL Group became the largest PR agency network in Asia and the region’s most awarded.
Osaki serves on the boards of the USC Annenberg Center for Public Relations (CPR), USC Asian Pacific Islander Faculty & Staff Association (APIFSA), Little Tokyo Business Association (LTBA), and School of Communication and Reputation (SCORE) in India, among others. He holds an MA in public relations from the USC School of Journalism, where he was awarded Outstanding Graduate in 1987. He was also awarded Outstanding Graduate from the University of California, San Diego, where he received his BA in political science in 1985. Osaki has two children who graduated from USC in 2014 and 2016, and a third child who is currently a senior at USC.
