David Tovar

Executive Director of Corporate Communications, Ford Motor Company; Center for Public Relations Board Member

David Tovar is the executive director of corporate communications at Ford Motor Company, where he leads communications for finance, government affairs, Ford Credit, and community relations. In this role, he is responsible for shaping Ford’s corporate narrative for financial media, investors, and policymakers, while protecting and enhancing the company’s corporate relations as part of the Ford+ plan.

Prior to joining Ford, Tovar served as senior vice president of communications and government relations at Grubhub, overseeing the company’s communications strategy and government relations efforts. He has held senior communications roles at McDonald’s, Sprint, Walmart, Kraft Foods, and Altria, where he led initiatives spanning corporate reputation, crisis communications, executive and employee communications, government affairs, brand public relations, and digital and social media.

Tovar began his career in corporate and government affairs, developing and executing political, legislative, and regulatory agendas at the state and local levels. He brings extensive experience managing high-profile communications for leading global brands and shaping corporate narratives across multiple sectors.

He graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts degree and is a member of the Arthur Page Society. Tovar also serves on the Board of Directors of the 1Million Project. He currently lives in Michigan with his wife and two children.
