Where are you from, and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?

I’m from Oakland, CA. Before enrolling in graduate school, I was a content marketer at several high-profile tech companies and a freelance writer for outlets like ESSENCE, Travel + Leisure, ForbesWomen, Glamour, and more.

How did you learn of the degree program, and why did you choose USC Annenberg?

Funny enough, I first came across USC Annenberg because I was initially interested in the PR/Comms program as I started my career working at public relations firms. It wasn’t until I pivoted into editorial writing that I became passionate about learning the craft of journalism.

What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?

I’ve enjoyed deepening my craft and practice by learning from my excellent professors and building bonds with my graduate cohort. I also love being a Cowan Scholar and having the opportunity to be a Teaching Assistant for undergraduates. 

Thanks to the program, I am prepared to go out and thrive in my field.
