Join us for the third annual Annenberg Works Career Conference hosted by Annenberg Career Development. This event offers students the opportunity to explore different career options, expand their career search skills, and network with industry leaders, company representatives, and alumni.
The keynote speaker is Eric Hutcherson, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, National Basketball Association (NBA).
Career Skills Workshops hosted by employers including Hill+Knowlton Strategies and The Walt Disney Company. Topics include interview skills, professionalism in the workplace and financial planning for your career.
Alumni panels will cover entertainment, journalism, digital media, marketing, advertising and public relations.

Senior Vice President, Human Resources, National Basketball Association
Eric Hutcherson leads the NBA’s Human Resources department, managing a team committed to attracting, retaining, developing and engaging top talent for the NBA, the WNBA and the NBA G League. With a focus on people, culture and innovation, Hutcherson is responsible for leading global projects and processes that address business needs with people solutions. He partners with league senior leadership to enable and empower employees in 13 U.S. and international offices to do great work while building opportunities for their professional success.
Prior to joining the NBA in July 2014, Hutcherson spent three years as managing director and chief HR officer for the U.S. and Canada division of Marsh, a leading global insurance brokerage firm. He specialized in colleague engagement, talent acquisition, talent management, and succession planning, and dedicated much of his time to expanding the company’s diversity and inclusion efforts.
Preceding his time at Marsh, Hutcherson worked at Mercer, a financial services and human resource consulting firm, for eight years. He held several leadership positions at Mercer, including Chief Human Resource Officer – Americas, and Global Leader for Mercer’s Outsourcing and Global Operations and Shared Services businesses. Hutcherson also held numerous human resource management roles with Putnam Investments.
Along with his nearly 20 years in the human resources field, Hutcherson has prior experience in professional sports. Earlier in his career, he worked for Foot Locker and served as assistant director of public relations for the Boston Celtics for three years.
Outside of the NBA, Hutcherson is a motivational speaker and has constructed a career development training program entitled, “Say Yes to Success.” He serves on the Board of Trustees for The Hun School of Princeton, the Board of Directors for Covenant House and the Senior Advisory Council for the National Association of African Americans in HR.
Hutcherson earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from New York University and a master’s degree in Sports Management and Administration from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He resides in Freehold, N.J. with his wife Linda and their two sons, Austin and Myles.
