Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of the Strategic Public Relations program graduates will be able to:

  • think strategically, critically, creatively and independently;
  • demonstrate competency in the role of communications in organizational environments of all types;
  • apply professional and ethical principles in pursuit of truth, accuracy, fairness and diversity;
  • take into consideration the communication needs of a wide variety of diverse communities including gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation;
  • critically evaluate their own work and that of others for accuracy and fairness, clarity, appropriate style and grammatical correctness;
  • write correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for the public relations  professions, audiences and purposes they serve;
  • produce multimedia content designed for specific audiences, using the most modern media production tools and techniques;
  • conduct research and evaluate information by methods appropriate to the communication professions in which they work;
  • apply basic numerical and statistical concepts;
  • understand the fundamentals of economic principles and how businesses operate 
  • apply professional and ethical principles in pursuit of truth, accuracy, fairness and diversity;
  • demonstrate the lasting impact of the history and role of professionals and institutions in shaping communications;
