Gross elected fellow of International Communication Association

Larry Gross, director of the School of Communication, was elected a Fellow of the International Communication Association at the group's annual conference in Dresden, Germany. One of the highest honors in communication studies, fellows are selected for "distinguished scholarly contributions to the broad field of communication." Gross's election was based on his extensive published contributions to cultivation theory and media studies, his pioneering work in gender studies, his important contributions to visual communication and the arts, and his service to ICA as chair of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender division. Gross previously was honored with ICA's B. Aubrey Fisher Mentorship Award, presented annually to an educator who serves as a role model for his or her students and inspires them to have an impact on the field. Since its founding in 1950, the 4,000-member ICA has named 57 Fellows, including USC Annenberg communication professor Peter Monge.
