Meet Chris.

Chris Sarette, MCM Graduate, Class of 2006

Like some of you, I was one of those students who concluded my undergraduate degree with little clarity when it came to how I wanted to apply my education. The broadness of a Communication degree can be exciting but also nerve wracking as you watch peers with defined careers (doctors, engineers, teachers) move forward on a mostly-defined path.

For me, the Masters in Communication Management was the perfect bridge between the theory of communication and the practical application of this study. Within my classes, I learned directly from industry leaders from business, entertainment, law, health, and education. I applied these lessons in solo and group projects designed to engage us in real-world scenarios which could benefit from a critical communication perspective. Whether it was leading a company through a PR scandal or negotiating compensation for the actors on a successful TV show, these experiences were rooted in practicality, and as such have been helpful exercises that I’ve applied in my post-grad career.

What I’ve done since the MCM program is similarly diverse. I’ve helped grow some incredibly ambitious companies from the non-profit space to the beverage industry. The breadth of my exposure in the MCM program has been tremendously helpful as I navigate the complexity of operating and leading a business.
