Dana Chinn

Dana Chinn focuses on helping news and nonprofit organizations use web analytics effectively to build and retain the audiences they need to sustain their business models.

Her interdisciplinary activities include teaching a web analytics class that partners students with news and nonprofit organizations; producing programs such as Mobile News Week and the News Idea Incubator (formerly the Annenberg-Marshall-Viterbi News Entrepreneur Fellowship Program); and developing ways to introduce students to the marketing, advertising and business development departments at news organizations.

Dana enjoys making web analytics concepts and techniques understandable through her frequent talks for industry groups and news organizations, her consulting, and her blog, News Numbers.  You can also follow her on Twitter.

Previously at USC Annenberg she directed the Convergence Core Curriculum.  Before USC, she worked in online, strategic planning, and finance at media companies such as Gannett and the Los Angeles Times.  She has a B.A. in Print Journalism from USC Annenberg and an M.B.A. from the USC Marshall School of Business.
