Matt Davis is the president of Dow North America and senior vice president of Global Public Affairs and Government Affairs for The Dow Chemical Company. In his role, he is responsible for building strategic partnerships with stakeholders to advance Dow’s North America growth agenda and reputation. He also provides global leadership for Dow’s government affairs, public policy, issues management, communications, reputation, and public affairs strategy and actions globally.
Matt joined Dow in 1987 as a communications representative. He was named manager of Public Relations for the Michigan Operations in 1988. In 1992, he became the manager of Corporate Media Relations, and was named manager for Employee Development and Quality Performance Communications in 1993.
In 1994, Matt became the Public Affairs leader for Texas Operations and added responsibility as Public Affairs leader for Dow Latin America in 1999. In 2000, he was named Business Public Affairs director for the Polyolefins and Elastomers Business Group. In 2004, he was named Public Affairs director for the Global Plastics Portfolio.
In 2006, he was appointed vice president of Executive Communications, Government Affairs and Community Relations. He was appointed to vice president of Public Affairs in 2009 and gained responsibility for Government Affairs in 2011. He was named corporate vice president in 2012.
Matt is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and is the past president of the White Pine Chapter of PRSA and former board member of the Houston Chapter of PRSA. He was named to the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame as a “Rising Star” in 2009. He is a member of Communications 50.
He attended the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. He holds a B.S. in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Affairs from MSU.
Matt and his wife, Kathleen, live in Midland, MI.
