Artur Tofan received his B.A. in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. He joined the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative research team during the sophomore year of his undergraduate studies. One of the first projects he worked on was a study focused on female characters in films from 11 countries. Since then, Artur has assisted with several other research projects on gender, sexuality, disability, and ageism in film and television.
In addition to his work at Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, Artur spearheaded two independent research investigations during his undergraduate senior year, under the supervision of Dr. Stacy L. Smith, and Dr. Carmen M. Lee. His projects focused on the impact of gender on hiring decisions in film and the role of gender bias in the perception of leadership in entertainment, respectively. Artur grew up in Moldova, an Eastern European country, and is fluent in Romanian, Russian and English.
