Andrew Schrock is the founder of Aloi Research & Consulting, an author, and an instructor at USC. He frequently researches the relationship between emerging technologies, such as mobile media and open data, and civic engagement and learning. His writing considers how grassroots groups and governments can ethically use emerging technologies to improve life for residents. He is particularly interested in taking an organizational perspective on public sector technology design. Schrock has a PhD in communication from USC, and his research has appeared in journals such as New Media & Society; the International Journal of Communication; and Big Data & Society.
