Journalism Director’s Forum: Jonathan Gold

Sasha Anawalt, director of USC Annenberg Arts Journalism programs, welcomes food critic Jonathan Gold. Gold, who now writes for LA Weekly, won the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2007, a first for a food writer. Previously, Gold was a New York restaurant critic for Gourmet magazine and was the first food writer to be considered a National Magazine Award finalist by the American Society of Magazine Editors. A collection of over 200 of his best food discoveries are compiled in his book, Counter Intelligence: Where to Eat in the Real Los Angeles.
