Thursday, March 1, 2012 - 6 p.m.

Lambda Pi Eta and the Annenberg Student Communication Association welcome a panel of the world's top magicians discussing how communication shapes magic.

The art of magic is one of the oldest forms of communication in human experience. It is steeped in communication strategies. The creation of "magic" is grounded in the magic word, the incantation. The performance of magic begins with shaping the audience experience through deceptive communication. Audiences eagerly accept this deception so that they can experience the "magic" moment. This panel will explore the use of communication strategies by magicians who seek to entertain and create "magic" for audiences.

Communication professor Dan Durbin will moderate the panel, which will include magicians Jon Armstrong, Pop Haydn, Milt Larsen, Tina Lenert and David Regal.
