Weiwei Zheng is a doctoral student at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. His research focuses on group dynamics in online communities and interactions on social media.

Specializing in computational methods and statistics, Weiwei mostly took a “big data” approach to examine processes by which online communities transform modes of information production and consumption, and the conditions under which innovative knowledge and creations emerge on peer-to-peer platforms. His works have been presented at multiple international academic conferences by organizations such as International Communication Association and Partnership for Progress on the Digital Divide.

Prior to joining USC Annenberg, Weiwei worked as a data science research assistant at Social Media Lab (SML) at Northwestern University. And Weiwei previously received a master’s degree in Computational Social Science from University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and English from Beijing Foreign Studies University.
