Sukyoung Choi is a doctoral candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California, and a Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) Fellow.
She studies media psychology and emerging communication technologies. Her research examines psychological and interpersonal processes in social media and online games, and how advances in artificial intelligence (AI) impact mediated interaction. She is also interested in understanding how the public makes sense of AI and its societal/political implications. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as New Media & Society, Media Psychology, Communication Research, and Computers in Human Behavior. She is currently affiliated with the TGG (That Game Group).
Prior to joining USC Annenberg, she graduated summa cum laude from Seoul National University, receiving her B.A. and M.A. in Communication. She has lived in four different countries including South Korea, Japan, Canada, and UK, where she spent a year at University of Sussex as an exchange student in 2013-14. She also had the privilege of serving as an official student ambassador for a year at Seoul National University as well as delivering a talk for students at Education Broadcasting System (EBS) and education centers in Korea.
