Nate Ming Curran is a PhD candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and he holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin Madison and an MA from the University of California Berkeley.

His research coalesces around contemporary processes of globalization, with a particular focus on new media, intercultural communication, and online language learning. His research has been supported by a grant from the Academy of Korean Studies, as well as year-long fellowships from the Korea Foundation and the USC Graduate School. His work appears in a variety of peer review journals, including Media, Culture & Society; International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism; English Today; Media, War & Conflict; and International Journal of Communication.
