Nathaniel Ming Curran did his undergraduate study at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities), the University of Wisconsin (Madison), and Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. He later received a fellowship to the Group in Asian Studies at the University of California at Berkeley, where he wrote his MA thesis on role of English in Korean society.

Nathaniel's research interests coalesce around issues of globalization, cosmopolitanism, language ideology, and digital media. He received a 2018-19 Korea Foundation Graduate Fellowship and a 2019-20 USC Graduate School Endowed Fellowship and has published in a variety of peer review journals, including Media, Culture & Society, English Today, International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, and Media, War & Conflict.
