Jeeyun (Sophia) Baik is a doctoral candidate at the Annenberg School. Her research looks at the politics of identity and social justice in the current networked communication environment, focusing on issues of privacy and surveillance. Her dissertation examines how data privacy is negotiated as a civil right along emerging privacy regulations in the United States. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Mass Communication and Society and International Journal of Communication. She holds a BA in International Relations from Seoul National University and a Master in Public Diplomacy from University of Southern California. Prior to joining the doctoral program, she produced news at a major Korean broadcaster, Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS). She also worked in public relations at Busan International Film Festival and Korean BroadcastingSystem (KBS).
