Jeeyun (Sophia) Baik is interested in political communication, media law and policy. Her research particularly looks at the pressing issues of data privacy and surveillance in the networked new media environment. Her recent projects have examined socio-political implications of consumer data protection regulations in California and at a federal level in the United States. She received her Master of Public Diplomacy at USC Annenberg and her B.A. in International Relations at Seoul National University in South Korea. Prior to joining the doctoral program, she produced news at the Los Angeles Bureau of SBS, a major Korean broadcaster. She also has various work experiences in public relations at the Busan International Film Festival and Los Angeles Korean Cultural Center, and research experiences with KBS, a national Korean broadcaster, and UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
