Hillary Thompson, Digital Social Media
Where are you from and what were you doing before enrolling in graduate school?
I am from Torrance, California. Before enrolling at USC I was running my own company doing consulting and social media for small businesses.
How did you learn of the degree program and why did you choose USC Annenberg?
My Bachelor’s degree is in Broadcast Journalism, but when I transitioned into Social Media I wanted some sort of education to back that up. First I found a few certificate programs and then I came across the Digital Social Media graduate program at USC. Annenberg was the only graduate school I applied to and because I know how many doors an education at USC opens, when I was accepted I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
What have you enjoyed the most about the degree program?
My favorite part of the Digital Social Media program has been the variety of classes throughout all of Annenberg that I was able to take advantage of, and then also the availability of and access to the faculty. I have been able to learn so much from them and know that I can continue to call on them even when I am no longer in Annenberg.
