Louise Henry Bryson
Louise Bryson served on the Board of Trustees for the J. Paul Getty Trust for twelve years, including four as Chair of the Board. She was made Chair Emerita in 2010 and now serves as Chair of the Getty Conservation Institute Council.
Ms. Bryson has had a thirty-four-year career in media. She was the president of distribution for Lifetime Television and EVP and GM of Lifetime Movie Networks. Previously she was SVP at FX Networks and responsible for distribution of Fox Inc.’s new cable television channels. She also represented all Fox-owned and affiliated stations in retransmission negotiations with cable and satellite companies.
Ms. Bryson is a Trustee of seven American Funds, California Institute of the Arts, and 2ndStage Theater in New York. She is also on the Boards of Huntington Memorial Hospital, Public Policy Institute of California, California Community Foundation, and LA Promise Fund.
Ms. Bryson started her career as a producer and writer for public television and continued her interest in public media. She was Board Chair of KCET in Los Angeles, and a former member of the PBS National Board, which honored her with the 1998 Award for Excellence in Public Television Leadership.
She has an MBA and MAT from Stanford University and a BA from the University of Washington. She was inducted in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2010 and became a member of the Trust in 2014 and the Board in 2015.
