Riley directs major conference on argumentation research

Scholars and students from around the country gathered Aug. 4-7 in Utah for the 2005 Alta Conference. Communication professor Patricia Riley served as director of the biennial conference, regarded as a "premier venue for argumentation research." The program featured a broad range of panel discussions and research presentations. USC Annenberg presenters and discussion leaders included professors Tom Hollihan, Tom Goodnight, Randall Lake and Colleen Keough and doctoral students Carrie Anne Platt, Kasia Anderson, Zoltan Majdik, John Kephart, Craig Hayden and Melissa Franke. The conference is sponsored by the National Communication Association, American Forensic Association and the University of Utah.
