Anawalt to moderate panel following The Joffrey Ballet film premiere

Sasha Anawalt, journalism professor and director of USC Annenberg's Arts Journalism Programs, will moderate a panel that will stream live following a simultaneous national premiere of "Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance" on Jan. 28. This Dance on Camera event will stream in participating theaters across the country through Emerging Pictures. The film is a documentary about The Joffrey Ballet, which experimented with traditional ballet and modern dance during a time when it was usually not accepted, from its beginning to its current international fame. Anawalt is the author of "The Joffrey Ballet: Robert Joffrey and the Making of an American Dance Company" and will also attend the Jan. 27 New York City premiere of the film that was strongly influenced by her book. Other panelists include Trinette Singleton, an original Joffrey Ballet dancer, current Artistic Director Ashley C. Wheater and former Joffrey principal Christian Holder.
