Kun writes in LA Times that border issues are a political quagmire

Communication professor Josh Kun wrote a Feb. 17 Los Angeles Times book review on two new books about the U.S.-Mexico border.

"[T]he border has never been just a line on a map," Kun wrote in his review of 187 Reasons Mexicanos Can't Cross the Border and Hyperborder. "It is a machine and a metaphor, a tool and a scapegoat, an entire cosmology and, especially these days, a political quagmire as laden with quicksand as the mention of a Palestinian state at a Passover table."
