Mark McNeill, '16, of dublab, shares why he returned to school

McNeill is a co-founder of dublab and a current student in the USC Annenberg Arts Journalism Masters program.

"As a mid-career journalist, serving as the director of a non-profit organization, until being part of this program, I have rarely had the opportunity to tackle long-form projects. But, in the past few months at USC Annenberg in the Arts Journalism Master's program, I launched two new radio series that put into action innovative storytelling concepts. Click here for a link to the series.

This program encourages ambitious ideas and provides the resources through which to realize them, and I am thrilled to return to school after having been away from the classroom for 16 years.

The beauty of the program, actually, is its wide spectrum outlook. It is structured to provide a diverse field of artistic exploration, and we choose our electives from USC’s six arts schools.

This has helped me cultivate my practice and hone my voice. It's given me greater confidence and the skills to thrive in the ever-evolving world of contemporary journalism. I know I will leave Annenberg with a refreshed vision and fortified enthusiasm."
