Renyi Hong is a Ph.D. Candidate in Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California. Prior to this, he was at the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, where he received his B.A (first class) and M.A. in Communication Studies. Renyi is primarily interested in labor and its relationships with digital culture and neoliberal capitalism. His doctoral research focuses on the affective dimensions of working life, especially the ways in which the passionate engagement with work is made a part of the good life fantasy, and how these sentiments form a moral language for the contemporary changes to work culture and its practices. His work has been published in New Media & Society, European Journal of Cultural Studies and the International Journal of Communication, among others.
