Please join USC Annenberg and the HBO Diverse Voices Forum for a conversation with Anna Deavere Smith, writer, producer and star of HBO’s Notes from the Field.

The acclaimed one-woman show Notes from the Field depicts the personal accounts of students, parents, teachers and administrators caught in America’s school-to-prison pipeline, as interviewed and portrayed by Tony and Pulitzer nominated Anna Deavere Smith in its first film adaptation of the play. Drawn from over 200 interviews of people living and working within a challenged system, Anna Deavere Smith shines a light on a lost generation of American youth through her stimulating portrayal of 17 characters, hoping to inspire awareness and change. Notes from the Field is executive produced by Anna Deavere Smith, Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks; co-executive produced by Steven Shareshian; produced by Frank Garritano; directed by Kristi Zea and written by Anna Deavere Smith.

Hosted by Sarah Banet-Weiser, vice dean and director of the School of Communication.
