‘The Art of Storytelling’: A woman’s approach to raising capital with the founders of Quilt

Tuesday, March 27, 2018

5 p.m. 6 p.m.

Wallis Annenberg Hall (ANN), The Sheindlin Forum (106)

Join M{2e}’s Women’s Leadership Society for an in-depth conversation about the journey of raising capital with Ashley Sumner and Gianna Wurzl, the founders of Quilt, a community focused platform that enables new ways for working women to connect offline. The female-centric co-working start-up is based in Los Angeles. You can read a recent feature about Quilt from The New York Times here.

Ashley Sumner lives to connect. It's why she co-founded Quilt. Her career started eight years ago in NYC as a matchmaker. With an intuitive ability to bring people together, she turned her passion into a career as a community developer for brands such as NeueHouse, Wanderlust, and One Roof ultimately leading to the creation of Quilt with her business partner, Gianna Wurzl. She now lives in Los Angeles, like every other New Yorker.

Gianna Wurzl’s purpose is to rebuild the feminine connection. Working in creative industries like publishing and advertising, she felt motivated to reimagine how we work, from a woman’s perspective. She launched her first company, One Roof, as an answer to the questions she was asking. In 2015, she met her business partner, Ashley Sumner, which inspired the creation of Quilt. Don’t ask Gianna for directions, she often goes left when she’s meant to go right, but she’s got this journey dialed.

The Women’s Leadership Society (WLS) provides support for female professional advancement at the intersection of technology, media and entertainment.

This event is the third installment in a three-part speaker series on Women & Entrepreneurship sponsored by WLS for Spring 2018.
