Jim Bizzocchi: Ambient Video Artworks

Wednesday, November 14, 2012 - 5:00pm

The Annenberg Innovation Lab welcomes Visiting Scholar Jim Bizzocchi, Associate Professor at Simon Fraser University, who will present and discuss his Ambient Video artworks. Ambient Video is an emerging form of video art, conceived in the spirit of Brian Eno's "ambient music." Ambient Video must never require your attention, but must reward your gaze with visual pleasure whenever you turn to it. Bizzocchi's art is shot in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and relies on strong compositions, altered time frames, and complex and layered visual transitions. His latest artwork is a computationally-generative ambient video presentation system that runs indefinitely without repeating, drawing images and transitions from associated databases.
