Does LA Local TV News Cover News Locals Need?

The Norman Lear Center will release its study of more than 11,000 news stories aired by eight LA TV stations. FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps – who has criticized the FCC for being “a paper tiger” on station license renewals – and a panel of media and business experts respond. Also to be discussed: What a companion study by the NLC of the LA Times found. Panelists include: Martin Kaplan, Norman Lear Center director; Kathay Feng, executive director, California Common Cause; George Kieffer, chair, Los Angeles Civic Alliance; Bob Jimenez, former NBC correspondent; and LA local anchor Marcia Brandwynne, veteran LA TV broadcaster.
