Please join students and faculty for a presentation by Sonia Livingstone, Professor of Social Psychology at the Department of Media and Communications of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her topic: “Dis/connected Learning in the Media and Social Worlds of Young People.”
From Prof. Livingstone: “My talk will be based on my current ethnographic project with a class of 14 year olds, in which I trace their social and learning networks to understand whether and how these are mediated by their digital networks. Part of the MacArthur Foundation-funded ‘Connected Learning Research Network’, the project explores the promise of connected learning in the digital age. Current findings, however, point more to disconnections than connections, though disconnection may bring its own benefits. For more, see http://clrn.dmlhub.net/.”
Lunch will be served.
