Yu Xu received his B.A. with first-class honors in communication from Fudan University in 2012. He graduated from Tsinghua University with an M.A. in journalism and communication in 2014. While pursuing his bachelor’s degree, Yu interned at People’s Daily Online, Shanghai Morning Post, and Shanghai Newspaper Association. He was also the president of Fudan UTV, a student-operated media on campus. During his graduate study, Yu worked in Tsinghua-Renren Social Media Lab with some web social science research projects.
His current research interests include network theory and analysis, evolutionary and ecological processes in organizational communities, collective action and social movements, and computational methods. Yu's work has been published in Telematics and Informatics, Political Communication, International Journal of Communication, African Journalism Studies, Journal of Communication, and Digital Journalism. He has also presented papers in international conferences such as ICA, AOM, NCA, AEJMC, HICSS, INSNA Sunbelt, WAPOR, and IAMCR.
