Sonia Jawaid Shaikh is a doctoral student whose interests are in the areas of decision-making, strategy selection, heuristics, information processing, research design and statistical learning methods. She was a COMPASS fellow at The World Bank in 2016.

Before joining USC, she was a Fulbright student at Michigan State University where she did an M.A in Communication.

She received her B.S in Mass Communication with minors in International Relations and Psychology from University of Karachi with top positions in the Department of Mass Communication and the Faculty of Arts. She was also selected by the South Korean government for a program involving South Asian and South East Asian university students and is also a recipient of language fellowship to Italy.

Prior to her graduate studies, she worked at an NGO that builds and operates schools across Pakistan.
