Jeeyun (Sophia) Baik is interested in political communication, participatory popular culture, and new media technology. She is exploring how entertainment media engage people into political and social issues, and how digital platforms, especially their algorithmic curations, (re)shape public spheres. She is currently affiliated with the Civic Paths research group. She received her Master of Public Diplomacy at USC Annenberg and her B.A. in International Relations at Seoul National University in Korea. Prior to joining the doctoral program, she produced news at the Los Angeles Bureau of SBS, a major Korean broadcaster. She also has various work experiences in public relations at Busan international film festival and LA Korean Cultural Center, and research experiences with a KBS documentary project and UNESCO.
