Communication
Offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in communication, USC Annenberg provides you with an education grounded in theory with applications across the communication and media spectrum. Rooted in both the social sciences and the liberal arts, the philosophy of academic inquiry focuses on the social, cultural, rhetorical and ­organizational processes that make up the human experience. Faculty conduct research in the fields of telecommunication regulation, communication in urban communities, health ­communication, video games and the content and effects of mass media, and students in all degree programs are active participants.

Offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism and public relations, students obtain a professional ­education that emphasizes ­writing, reporting, investigative skills and ethics within the context of a liberal arts education. Students are taught by a world-class faculty of reporters, editors and producers -- winners of Pulitzer Prizes, Emmys and virtually every other major award in ­journalism and public relations.

Distinguishing features are:

  • An innovative core curriculum that teaches newswriting, reporting and production for print, broadcast and online media.
  • Impact, an award-winning television news magazine produced by journalism students at USC Annenberg .
  • Annenberg Television News, an award-winning day-of-air news operation produced by students.
  • Annenberg Radio News, a Web site committed to fostering professional radio journalism and providing the USC audience with quality stories.
  • On-campus media outlets including Neon Tommy, the Daily Trojan, Trojan Vision and KXSC, USC's student-run radio station.
  • TriSight Communications, a public relations firm based at USC Annenberg and staffed by entirely by USC students.
  • Innovative nine-month Specialized Journalism master's degree programs.
