Minhee Son graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with a BA in communication. In 2009, she received a MA in visual communication from Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea). Minhee is interested in media and its effects on transnationalism, multiculturalism, and the everyday challenges faced by immigrant communities. Her research at Annenberg so far has looked at Korea as a case study for understanding how national identity is both shaped and challenged by the various flows of information and people across its geographical boundaries. With the forces of globalization and digitalization changing the fabric of everyday life and urban landscapes, she believes that the communication perspective is a vital one that allows us to be sensitive to the new ways in which conflict becomes manifest and can be possibly resolved. One of her goals at Annenberg is to undergo a strong methodological training so that she can use qualitative and quantitative methods in complementary ways.
