Dayna graduated cum laude in 2005 with a B.A. in Communication from Saint Mary's College of California. She earned her M.A. in Communication from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a concentration in Gender and Women's Studies. Broadly, Dayna's scholarly interests include popular culture, audience reception, media effects, and gender studies. Currently she is specifically interested in the ways that post-feminist and post-racial ideologies manifest in cultural artifacts produced by black women musicians, and television actresses.
