Dr. Murphy researches how people make decisions and the factors that influence them including emotion, racial and gender stereotypes, and cultural norms and beliefs. Currently, she is working on projects that examine how health-related information is conveyed in primetime TV and how television news covers war. In the past, Dr. Murphy has recieved numerous grants from such organizations as the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control, the National Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, and the Annenberg Center.
