Kay Madati, the head of Facebook Inc.’s Entertainment Media Strategy team will visit with USC Annenberg faculty and students as the Spring 2013 M{2e} Executive-in-Residence, from January 28-31.

Kay M. Madati is the Entertainment Marketing Strategy Lead at Facebook, Inc. As a member of the Global Customer Marketing Group, Mr. Madati oversees creating effective, long-term strategies that position Facebook as a critical and foundational element of the marketing matrix for Film, TV, Music, and Entertainment content publishers and distributors. With a focus on providing relevant insights, strategies, partnerships, and compelling solutions, Mr. Madati is charged with strategically growing and building Facebook’s footprint and relationships in the entertainment space.

Prior to this role, Mr. Madati was the Vice President of Audience Experience at CNN Worldwide, overseeing the development and execution of a successful social media and consumer engagement + experience strategy across all of CNN’s distribution platforms, including television, digital, mobile, the social web and offline events. He was responsible for building, growing, and aggregating audiences for CNN content, shows, and personalities, with the end goal of strengthening and deepening audience connections to the CNN brand and its offerings.

USC Annenberg graduate students are invited to a networking mixer with the USC Annenberg M{2e} program’s Executive-in-Residence for 2013, Kay M. Madati, Head of Entertainment & Media at Facebook, Inc. For this event, Mr. Madati will engage students in an informal discussion of the jobs that will be most in demand in tomorrow’s media and communications fields. There will also be a short Q-and-A with communication professor Christopher Holmes Smith and journalism professor Gabriel Kahn.

USC Annenberg undergraduate students are invited to an ice cream social with the USC Annenberg M{2e} program’s Executive-in-Residence for 2013, Kay M. Madati, Head of Entertainment & Media at Facebook, Inc. This is a unique opportunity for students to network and gain insight into the forces that are rapidly shaping the communications industry. Mr. Madati is a recognized leader in consumer marketing and audience experience whose career spans leadership positions at Facebook, CNN, and BMW North America. The event will be hosted by communication professor Christopher Holmes Smith and journalism professor Gabriel Kahn.

Event open only to USC Annenberg undergraduate students.

USC Annenberg's Media, Economics & Entrepreneurship M{2e} presents: "The Power of a Connected World," with Kay M. Madati, USC Annenberg’s 2013 Executive-in-Residence

Dean Ernest J. Wilson III, communication professor Christopher Holmes Smith and journalism professor Gabriel Kahn welcome USC Annenberg’s 2013 Executive-in-Residence, Kay M. Madati, Head of Entertainment & Media at Facebook, Inc., for a presentation entitled: “The Power of a Connected World.” From Mr. Madati: “The evolution of technology, consumer empowerment, and content development/distribution models has huge implications on audience experiences and how businesses and content producers have traditionally gone to market. How has the landscape changed in a Connected World?” In his current role, Mr. Madati is responsible for extending and evolving Facebook’s relationships and partnerships in the entertainment space, and is also ultimately responsible for positioning the platform as a critical and foundational element of the marketing matrix for all entertainment content publishers and distributors. Mr. Madati has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Georgetown University in Washington DC, where he majored in American Studies with a concentration in Philosophy. He is a Tanzanian citizen who has lived in Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
