Annenberg Research Seminar: Paolo Sigismondi, University of Southern California Geoffrey Cowan Forum (Annenberg Room 207), 12 noon | |
Please join students and faculty as we kick off the weekly USC Annenberg School of Communication Research Seminar Series with a presentation by Paolo Sigismondi, clinical assistant professor of Communication at the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. This research seminar is also sponsored by USC Annenberg’s Media, Economics & Entrepreneurship M{2e} initiative. His topic: “Interdisciplinary Approaches in the Analysis of the Evolutions of the Global Mediascape: The Digital Glocalization of Entertainment.”
His presentation will be based on his upcoming book, The Digital Glocalization of Entertainment to be published by Springer Science + Business Media in their series “The Economics of Information, Communication, and Entertainment.”
From Dr. Sigismondi: “The book explores the dynamics of global media and entertainment, specifically analyzing the implications of the global rise of non-scripted entertainment (as reality TV programs) and the impact and consequences of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) revolution on the content, delivery platforms, and overall business models of the media and entertainment landscape. This work illustrates that the paradigms are shifting, introducing the digital ‘glocalization’ of entertainment, through which successful media crossing national and cultural borders incorporate both global and local features, taking advantage of available features provided by digital technology.”
Lunch will be served.
