State of Play VI New York Law School, 57 Worth Street New York, NY 10013 | |

The USC Network Culture Project at the Annenberg School for Communication, under the direction of
Douglas Thomas (pictured), invites you to attend the sixth annual
State of Play Conference. Please join us as we examine the past, present and future of virtual worlds. In conjunction with the New York Law School, and with support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the conference will focus on the startling rise of virtual worlds and multiplayer online games and ask whether these worlds have reached a plateau in their development. At the same time we will question whether we have reached a limit in our understanding of these worlds, and ask whether there are useful research questions still left to pursue. This conference will bring together scholars, games developers, industry leaders, government leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, social scientists and policy–makers to set the agenda for the development and study of virtual worlds. For interested graduate students there will be an additional student symposium held on June 18. Scholarships are available.
