The USC Annenberg/Getty Arts Journalism Program is hosting a conversation about the slow journalism movement, moderated by Douglas McLennan, editor of ArtsJournal.com. Panelists include: Peter Sellars, opera and theater director; Josh Viertel, president of Slow Food USA; Mister Jalopy, blogger and author of the Maker's Bill of Rights; and Naka Nathaniel, videographer and reporter for the New York Times. The panel will focus on the relevant applications of slow journalism to arts journalism. Slow journalism is a phrase coined by Naka Nathaniel to describe the growing practice of journalists sharing resources and caring less about beating their competition than about practicing human rights activism and doing the right thing. Picnic lunch will be served after in Founders Park. RSVP requested. To RSVP, email Arianna Sikorski at sikorski@usc.edu.
