Los Angeles Mayoral Candidates Debate

The USC Asian Pacific American Student Services office, New California Media, Asian Pacific American Policy and Planning Council, and USC Annenberg present a forum for major candidates for Mayor of Los Angeles. The event will focus on issues of interest to the Asian Pacific American community and will be covered by local ethnic media. Confirmed candidates include councilmembers
Antonio Villaraigosa and
Bernard Parks as well as State Senator
Richard Alarcon. Media panelists are
Jose Luis Sierra, Assistant Managing Editor/News of La Opinion and
Robert Wheaton, editor of Carib Press (the only newspaper to cover the Caribbean community in Southern California). Community Organization panelists are
Angelica Salas, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of LA (CHIRLA); and
Hamid Khan, A3PCON/South Asian Network. Moderators are
Tritia Toyota and
Janet Choi (KTLA).
