California's Public Schools: From First to Worst Annenberg Auditorium, 5:00 pm | |

Karen Symms Gallagher hosted the Los Angeles premiere of the PBS documentary,
First to Worst. The film "chronicles the rise and fall Californias public school system, the largest in the nation and home to one of every eight American students" and was produced by former NPR and PBS education reporter
John Merrow. Following the film, Merrow, Gallagher and
William Celis, author, USC Annenberg journalism professor, and former education reporter at the
New York Times, participated in a roundtable discussion led by
Martin Kaplan, associate dean, USC Annenberg School and director of the Norman Lear Center.
