Panel Discussion Latinos and Census 2000: Getting Down to the Details Census 2000 has yielded many stories about the Hispanic population but the best data is imminent. Beginning this summer and throughout next year, the Census Bureau will generate information on Latinos based on whether they are U.S. or foreign born. The new numbers will also illuminate economic and educational attainment for the first time. The data will eventually allow for detailed analysis of Latino communities at the metropolitan level and assessments of both the challenges and opportunities represented by their rapid growth. This workshop will provide a preview of the forthcoming Census data releases and practical information about how to access the data that will yield great stories.
