International Communication Studies CHINA- Summer Only
Annenberg International Programs is pleased to announce the launch of the International Communication Studies program in China, which is open to undergraduate and graduate students.

Program
The International Communication Studies program (ICS) in China allows undergraduate and graduate students to study a range of approaches to public communication media across three major cities in China. This program is offered only in the summer and will run in the month of July. Please note that program dates do vary from year to year; make sure to check back on this website or contact the International Programs office for updates.
Location
Students divide the four-week course into stays in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and a trip to Shenzhen (with the first week spent at USC). In addition to regular class meetings, students will also attend lectures given by leading Chinese communication scholars and engage in dialogue with Chinese students. In Shanghai we will visit the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Fudan University, in Beijing the Communication University of China and the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University, and in Hong Kong the School of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Curriculum
Undergraduate students enroll in COMM 499 Comparative Media US and China (4 units). Graduate students enroll in COMM 599 (4 units). Journalism and Public Relations majors may earn four credits toward their elective requirements; communication majors may earn four credits toward their majors.
Housing & Transportation
Students stay in hotels in each city. Local transportation will also be provided.
Admission requirements
Students must have a minimum cumulative USC GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate a preparedness to contribute to the dynamic of a small study group, as well as the ability to successfully complete upper division communication coursework. All USC students may apply.
Estimated Costs
The estimated costs for the 2012 ICS China program is $12,755, which includes 4 units of tuition, airfare/local transportation, housing and personal expenses.
