While at the USC Annenberg School, he has served as the founder and director of the Annenberg Ambassadors, a mentor in the Annenberg Student Communication Association, and an intern and interviewer in the Annenberg Admissions Office. He is a member of a number of honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key, has studied in both Paris and Dijon, France, and is a USC Renaissance Scholar. Shayne also served, at the extracurricular level, as the Vice-President of Scholarship for the USC Interfraternity Council and has remained an active member of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. A graduate of the Communication Honors Program, he will present part of his thesis, "The Mainstreaming of Queerness: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and the Metrosexualization of American Society," at the 2004 International Communication Association Conference in New Orleans. Fascinated by the dynamic nature of visual culture, Shayne is considering a career in advertising, but ultimately hopes to become a professor so he can share his passion for knowledge with his future students.
